What do I need to get a library card?
All residents of Breckinridge County and some surrounding counties are eligible for a BCPL card and are encouraged to become patrons of the public library. This privilege extends to those owning property and/or employed in Breckinridge County, plus those living in Ohio and Grayson County.
In order to receive a card, proof of residence must be established by providing one of the following:
Juvenile cards
Parents or legal guardians must sign or initial the child’s library card for children under the age of thirteen (13) or fill out a paper application. The paper application must be signed by a parent or guardian. Signing the library card or paper application means the customer agrees to assume responsibility for all who make use of the card, pay all fines and/or other charges incurred, notify the library of any change of address, inform the library if the card is lost or stolen, and comply with Rules of Conduct when visiting any Breckinridge County Public Library location.
How do I check out movies?
The checkout period for DVDs is seven days, with a limit of six (6) DVDs total per patron. A patron can only have six DVDs total checkout at a time. Patrons must be 18 years of age or older to check out DVDs and DVDs can only be checked out on adult cards. The borrower must pay any charges for damage or loss. Loss or damage shall be replacement cost of the DVD plus processing fee. DVDs may not be used for commercial purposes and no admission may be charged.
DVDs with more than three movies are considered Movie Collections. One Movie Collection is allowed per card and does not count toward the regular six DVD limit. Patrons must be 18 years of age or older to check out Movie Collections and Movie Collections can only be checked out on adult cards.
